St Mary’s Classic Chaos
On Sunday morning we dragged ourselves to Hammersdale in the pouring rain and mist to ride the St Mary’s mountain bike race. We got off to a good start with Sharon hitting the hills hard, and we were all set for a good time when we realised we’d taken a wrong turn in the mist and were well off course. FAIL!
The people around us all headed off in different directions while I used my keen sense of direction (read GPS on my bike) to take us back to the start in a cunning shortcut over the world’s most savage hill. Despite all of this we still came in in under two hours, although I’m sure we can take at least 15 minutes off our time for getting lost.
After getting home, cleaning the VERY muddy bikes, and showering, we spent the rest of the evening hiding from all the kids trick or treating in the complex. Clearly we need to buy some sweets for next year, although the tucking and rolling was rather fun…
