Colmonell Rainbow
On Sunday I got up at the usual 5am, packed my fishing kit, and met Shaun in the parking lot. We headed for Colmonell, stopping for the mandatory cup of coffee.
By 7am we were on the water, and at around 8am I pulled out one of my better Rainbows; a hen fish weighing in at 2,6kg. Shortly after that I pulled out a stockie of 15cm – probably my smallest ever still-water fish.
And then all the surface activity we had been seeing vanished and things went quiet. Shaun started dead drifting a nymph on an indicator, and managed to land a good Rainbow of just over 2kgs.
Sadly the weather then started to move in, and since it was so quiet, we decided to call it a day and head home.
